WIP Wednesday~1/14/15

I started another prayer shawl with all my left over worsted weight yarns.  This is another stash buster that will probably take a while to complete since each square is only 2 1/4".  I am using a pattern for an afghan called "Granny's Favorite" by Judy Bolin, but I am only going to make it 24" x 61" and the main color will be shades of off-white.  It is from a booklet called "Scrap Wraps" published by Leisure Arts. I have five squares finished.

I am reading a lot of books on my Nook.  The one I have recently started is a book called "The Measure of Katie Calloway" by Serena Miller.  It is a Christian Fiction book about a woman working as a cook in a lumber camp in the 1870s.  I got this book free from Book Bub and am really enjoying it so far

Newborn Boy Outfit

Last week I shared the Monk Strap Loafers, and said I would maybe crochet a vest and cap to go with it.  Well, I didn't have enough yarn for both, but I was able to make a vest.  I used a free pattern I found online, at Red Heart's website.

Front

Back
I used a size F hook with the 6 month size pattern, so that it would be smaller.  I found out that I had to change colors half way through the vest so that both sides would be the same front and back.  If the vest and shoes don't fit at the same time, then they can be used separately.

Here is the set together.

WIP Wednesday~6/19

Yesterday, I intimated I was not into working on prayer shawls during the summer.  They get really warm on my lap as I am adding rows.  However, I still have one going.  It looks like it is done, but I want to add a couple more rows on each side to make it wider, so it can be used as a shawl or lapghan.  Here's hoping the air conditioner is working, or there is cooler weather!  ;)

WIP Wednesday~ 7/11

Prayer Shawl
I have a knit and crochet project to show today.  My daughter says she doesn't have to ask me what I am working on any more, because prayer shawls and baby items are "all I do."  ; )   Yes, I do a lot of them.  They give me a lot of pleasure, to make something for someone else, since I can't do the things for my family as well as I'd like.  I think that is one reason I will never sell my items.  This is my mission.
Baby Dress

So I am repurposing yarn from previous projects I have made, that I no longer want.  The yarn for the shawl used to be a sweater, and the yarn for the dress used to be doll clothes for my daughter that has grown out of that stage.  I like to know someone else will use them well.

WIP Wednesday

I am working on two projects at the moment.  One is a Granny Stripes prayer shawl.  I am using up left over skeins of various worsted weights, and trying to combine the colors as I go.

The other project is a pair of fingerless gloves.  I am using this granny square design, crocheting four squares, two for front, two for back in each glove.  I have one glove completed, and will show the whole set when finished.

WIP Wednesday

Since I finished the other prayer shawl on Sunday, I jumped right into a new one on Monday.  I am using the Apache Tears pattern in grey heather, off-white, maroon, and a variegated pink/maroon.  I have twelve rows so far, over 254 stitches.  I like how the "tears" are so prominent with the light/ dark contrast.

WIP~ Knitted Baby Blanket

It seems like I have been making this blanket forever.  I posted about it when I first discovered the WIP sites where I share my work, back in November.  I have done a lot of projects since then, but am now getting much closer to finishing this one.  As you can see, it is worked in a diamond, and I am to the part where I am decreasing every row.  I think it would be easier to knit if I wasn't using my interchangeable needles, since they become unscrewed at least every other row, and I have to stop knitting and take out the caught yarn and re-screw them together.  Oh well, I guess that is what you get for a cheap garage sale find!  ;0p

Granny Baby Blanket WIP

I added another square to my Granny a Day project, and have decided it is going to be a baby blanket.  As one of my blog friends, Stocki, commented in my last post, "I think you should make a baby blanket... it would be gorgeous in those colours... also we would get a 'Ta-dah' sooner!" :)  My tangerine square is the eleventh.

WIP Wednesday

There are now 75 squares of the Gingham Baby Blanket done.  They usually work up fast, and I get a row of 15 done in an evening while watching TV.  With several other WIPs, this is taking a little longer than I thought.  I am going to continue to add on until I run out of yarn or I decide I like the size.  Right now it is the size of  my old fashioned piano bench.  How many rows do you think I should add?

Work in Progress (WIP) Wednesday

Last time I had posted this baby blanket, I only had three squares, and now there are thirty.  I think I am doing pretty good, especially since I have not worked on it since the weekend, and I am also doing a couple more projects that I have posted about previously.  I now have two weeks off for winter break, so I hope to get a couple things done during this time.

WIP Wednesday

I am still working on a knitted baby blanket and a prayer shawl that I have posted about previously.  I had a little left over Raspberry yarn to make my granddaughter a pair of slippers.  I just have to decide if I am going to add the flower trim on the top (above the toes), and put a trim around the top edges with some fun fur I have.

Raspberry Wrap with Slit

This is one of the projects I am working on.  I originally did it in one color, Red Heart's Raspberry, and ran out of that yarn.  I could only find the Red Heart Light Raspberry at our local yarn stores, so I frogged the pattern and decided to make the pattern in wide stripes.  I like that the section with the slits is still all one  color.  Our cat, Oreo, likes it, too.
