Hexagon Prayer Shawl Tah Dah

This prayer shawl is finished.  I ran out of  of the tan colored yarn, and decided to make the shawl longer by adding rows that mimicked the pattern of the hexagons.  I edged the whole thing with one row of single crochet.  It was a hit at the prayer shawl ministry group.

Hexagon Update

As of today, I have seven+ rows done on my latest prayer shawl.  There are a total of forty hexagons, made with a motif pattern from JPF Crochet Club.  I am mostly using sports weight yarns from my stash, but I am also crocheting with some yarn from my stash that is not labeled.  I don't know the weight of that yarn, but I like how it blends with the rest of the yarn. ;)

The hex's are being joined using a modified version of the flat-braid join, with two neutral colors.  Now I have to decide how I want to make the edging, and whether or not I am going to use half-hexagons from this style motif to make the sides straight.  Hmm...  I  think I will figure that out later, after I am almost finished with the hexagons.

Hexagon Prayer Shawl

I continue to add more hexagons to my pile.  I have now made seventeen.  I was able to crochet fifteen out of the tan/beige color, so this will kind of be a base color.  I am going to make a long strip the length I want, and then design it more as I go.  I don't even know what it will look like when I am finished!  :D

One a Day~7/2

I managed to get nine hexies done in the last week for my One a Day project.  All are the same color, to see how many I can get from this ball of yarn.  I am looking forward to finishing this ball, so I can make the shawl more colorful!

And I had to share this picture of my dog, Pipsqueak.  She often cuddles with me while I am crocheting. <3

A Brand New One a Day Project

It has been almost ten months since I have posted a One a Day project.  It is been a really busy time, and I am glad to be back.  One of the things I have been doing is looking for a new job, since my job was out-sourced to the local special education unit.  This decision was made for both me and the other speech pathologist at our school.  I have sent out several applications, since April, but have yet to have an interview. I keep hearing/seeing that there are several jobs out there for SLPs,  but I have to learn patience.  Any prayers/good thoughts would be appreciated.

Now on to the project.  I have seen lots of hexagon projects on the internet lately, and have wanted to try my own.  I found a pattern for a hexagon motif that I like from the JPF Crochet Club site that Julie had as her featured free pattern a couple of months ago.  I have done a lot of other projects since then, but finally decided it was time to use a bunch of sport weight yarn scraps and give it a try.  I only have two hexies to start, but I have started.

I have to remember to work the pattern backwards since I am left handed.  As I was writing this post, I just realized that I crocheted pentagons instead of hexagons, so back to work I go.  At least it doesn't take too long to get these redone. 0_o

Two Pentagons

Forty minutes and four frogs later, I think I got the design right. ;)  It will get more colorful as I go along.
