Painted Tree

I am experimenting with the Paint program that is a part of the Windows Photo Gallery.  I worked with this tree last year, but I am learning about colors and shading as I go.  I feel like this is intuitive painting, instead of a realistic scene, and I am having fun with it.

Big Sky

My daughter took this picture, and I cropped it a little, and zoomed in on the best part.  I love how the Light radiates from the little country church.

One More View

I used Paint on Windows 7 to see what else I could do. It is interesting to see the different effects.

Michelle's View

My changes with Picnik
I took a picture of our Blizzard today through our "snowball" dotted window.  My internet friend Michelle from Brain Angles--Invisible Ink saw the picture and wanted to photopaint it.  I thought I would give it a go, also, and here are the results:

Chemo Sweater

My 19 year old neice has recurrent brain cancer.  She has fought this for four years.  She had some good news recently when the MRI showed that there had been no tumor growth for a year!  Almost two years ago, after the news of the first recurrence, her parents got this cute little puppy, and she pronounced it was good chemo, and his name stuck.

We were at Kelly's house for Thanksgiving this year, and she saw me making a scarf for my daughter.  She asked if I was making a sweater for Chemo.  So, before we left this morning, I made this sweater for him.  We all thought it was adorable, especially on him!  When I called Chemo a pretty boy, Kelly said to the puppy, "Yeah, you're pretty, but your Mom is ugly."  I told her, "Kelly,  I think you are beautiful!  Your bright blue eyes...and you are so strong!"  She smiled a little smile, and said "Thank you, I try..."  The poem I wrote on Thanksgiving day was about/for her.

Sunset on the Prairie

I snapped these pictures on the way home from school yesterday.

And then I decided I had to do something more with the one in the middle.

But I kinda like both, after all.

A Scared Young Tom

Just in time for Thanksgiving!  In speech therapy, not only do I correct speech sound errors, I also work with my students to understand the subtleties of language.  One of these is IDIOMS.   This idiom has always been a favorite of mine for this time of year.  This illustration will help me talk about what this idiom really means.
So, I combined creativity with work today!

How do you use your creativity at work?

Painting digitally

This was created with my  "Paint" program in Windows.  So fun to create over a photagraph.  It is really fun to see the different effects.

Inspired Geometry

Here is another design from a nine point square, this time with circles involved.  One person who saw it said she thought it looked like a kaleidoscope.  What do you think?

Interconnections

I was inspired by this website I found about Native Amrican Geometry, at this link: http://www.earthmeasure.com/native-american-geometry.html. I started with a nine point square, and began connecting the dots...

Parachute Ultralights

We saw some parachute ultralights flying around our local airport the other day, and I had some fun today creating with Picnik again.

The Flying Bird, revisited

Before and...

after Piknik

I wanted to try my clouds picture again, but chose to make it less abstract.  I remembered a technique a friend used for her painting.  She projected the image from a photo onto canvas to outline her sketch first, and I decided to try something similiar.  Since the picture was on my camera, I just enlarged it and traced the shapes onto my paper.  Then, I filled in the details and left out the parts I didn't want.  I added only two colors, wanting to make them contrast the rest.  After reading posts about using photoshop for digital art, I decided to experiment a little with Piknik, that is linked to my Picasa Web Albums.  On the right, you can see the results.  I think I captured the light a little more.
