One a Day~7/2

I managed to get nine hexies done in the last week for my One a Day project.  All are the same color, to see how many I can get from this ball of yarn.  I am looking forward to finishing this ball, so I can make the shawl more colorful!

And I had to share this picture of my dog, Pipsqueak.  She often cuddles with me while I am crocheting. <3

Princess Pipsqueak

I saw on another blog that the blogger crocheted a crown for her pug, and I thought that Pipsqueak could not be outdone, so I had to make a crown for her.  She kept it on for a while, but it got lost during her night wanderings.  Who knows, it may even be in one of our beds, since I swear she bed hops all night!  :)

The Versatile Blogger Award

When I saw Karisma's comment on my last post, I was intrigued.  Someone thought well enough of my blog to give an award?  Well, thank you, Karisma!

And now I must pass it along, so here goes.

The rules:  (yes, there are six!)

1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
3. Mention 7 random things about yourself.
4. List the rules.
5.  Award to 15 other bloggers.
6. Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.

My entries:

#1--see above

#2--see above  (LOL)

#3--Random things
               a.  I like to take pictures of my family, and they don't like their pictures taken.
               b.  I write small stones.
               c.  My favorite foods are bananas, mushrooms, chocolate and peanuts.  Mushrooms
are not in combination with the others. :)
               d.  I was a bonus grandmother before I became a mother.
               e.  I met my husband singing in a church choir.
               f.  I graduated with my masters degree before my husband completed his bachelors degree,
but he is four years older than me.
               g.  I have always been a shy and sensitive person, but writing online and blogging have
                     helped with that.

#4--see above, again

#5  Awarding to these lovely friends:

#6  I am headed over to these blogs once I finish posting.

This was a good way to connect with several people today.  I am pleased I took the time to do this.  Congratulations to everyone, and thanks again, Karisma.

Pippi's Coat

Okay, I  just couldn't help making the dog coat/sweater again.  I had just enough left-over yarn from another project to crochet this one.  Still not sure whether Pippi likes it or not, but she calmed down after a little cuddling.  At least she didn't rip it off like I heard a friends's dog did.

Ambiguous Autumn

Green to red, then yellow, pink and brown.
Heat to cool, then warm to cold.
Tank tops to sweatshirts to warm winter coats.
Autumn brings changes for my mind and body
To which I must adjust.

Painted Tree

I am experimenting with the Paint program that is a part of the Windows Photo Gallery.  I worked with this tree last year, but I am learning about colors and shading as I go.  I feel like this is intuitive painting, instead of a realistic scene, and I am having fun with it.

Big Sky

My daughter took this picture, and I cropped it a little, and zoomed in on the best part.  I love how the Light radiates from the little country church.

"Nested" Photos

I had some jars left over from a cappuccino mix gift set at Christmas, and had seen the jars repurposed for pictures on C.R.A.F.T. blog's Glass Jar Round Up. These were a perfect size for the photo's I wanted to use.  Now, I can have my family with me all day at work. ;)

Alternate Views

Original Photo

Michelle's View

My changes with Picnik
I took a picture of our Blizzard today through our "snowball" dotted window.  My internet friend Michelle from Brain Angles--Invisible Ink saw the picture and wanted to photopaint it.  I thought I would give it a go, also, and here are the results:

Sunset on the Prairie

I snapped these pictures on the way home from school yesterday.

And then I decided I had to do something more with the one in the middle.

But I kinda like both, after all.

Painting digitally

This was created with my  "Paint" program in Windows.  So fun to create over a photagraph.  It is really fun to see the different effects.

Night falls gradually
Shadows grace the trees with lace.
As the sun descends.

Redbird in the Clouds

Lately, I have been photographing a lot of clouds, especially the lights that shine on them.  I happen to look out my window at work the other day, and saw this:

It struck me as being humorous, since there was a bird in the clouds.  Does anyone else see the joke in that?
BTW:  The Redbird is my school's mascot for sports teams.

Parachute Ultralights

We saw some parachute ultralights flying around our local airport the other day, and I had some fun today creating with Picnik again.

Feedback welcome...

Peace Triumphant

Rededicated today.
The World War One memorial
For all the soldiers
In Oak Park, Illinois,
In the United States of America,
Who sacrificed the life they had known
For our country
In the "War to End All Wars"
(which it didn't).

Not all 2,460 odd soldiers died
In the war,
But they all gave up all they knew.
They left as boys,
And returned as changed men.
Men no longer known
By their families or friends.
Men who needed to relearn
Who they were themselves.

It is fitting we rededicate
This memorial today,
When we continue sending soldiers
To new wars
   (which we haven't won).
We need to  renew our plan
For a changed society.
We need to redefine our obstacles
To Peace.
